Kazakh opera singer wins competition in Italy

Kazakh opera singer Aigerim Altynbek achieved a brilliant victory at the 11th International Competition CLIP 2025 in Italy. She emerged as the overall winner, receiving multiple honors, including first prize, the Audience Award, Best Female Voice, and a special prize from renowned critic and mentor Carlo Majer. The competition received around 200 applications worldwide, with only 10 singers advancing to the final. These finalists, including the Kazakh artist, performed at a gala concert accompanied by the Teatro Carlo Felice orchestra in Portofino’s central square. Notably, Altynbek is the first artist from Central Asia to secure such an unequivocal victory at this prestigious opera event. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the singer, noting that she had represented Kazakhstan and its national art with honor on the global stage. Leading opera houses in Italy and South America have already expressed interest in collaborating with the Kazakh soprano.

«When the President himself congratulated me, I honestly didn’t expect it. I’m very happy and always ready to conquer the world. I’ve now received audition offers from opera houses in Florence and San Carlo, and theaters in South America have also started reaching out with invitations. Over the next two years, I’ll be working with La Scala in Milan, and this year I’m graduating from the Parma Conservatory,» Altynbek said.
