Artifacts from Kangju period found in Turkistan region

At the ancient Kultobe settlement in the Turkistan region, archaeologists have discovered the remains of a warrior and weapons dating back to the Kangju period. Excavations at the Kylyshzhzar burial site revealed a sword over one meter long and a dagger, known as an akinak - a typical weapon of warriors from that era, researchers say. It is believed to have belonged to a man aged between 35 and 40. Experts emphasize the exceptional value of the discovery as similar artifacts have not been found in this region for over 25 years. Of particular interest is the burial ritual, typical of the Kangju era. The artifacts have been sent to a laboratory for scientific examination.

«We are conducting excavations at the Kultobe settlement and the Kylyshzhzar burial site. Our main goal is to preserve the artifacts and transfer them to museums for presentation at the national level,» said Kaiyrkhan Shartakov, junior researcher of the Ordabasy National Historical and Cultural Reserve.
