Astana hosts Central Asia-China people-to-people exchange event

Cultural and humanitarian ties are a key part of both bilateral and multilateral dialogue, as emphasized during the Central Asia-China people-to-people exchange event in Astana. The event brought together representatives from government bodies and media holdings of the five Central Asian countries and China. Delivering a welcome address on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan, State Counsellor Erlan Karin underscored the importance of media integration in the digital age, noting that modern communication platforms have become a continuation of the Silk Road.

«In fact, the formation of early communication networks was already underway at that time. Today, we continue this tradition through the internet, satellite, and digital platforms, bringing our media into a shared rhythm of cooperation. Amid the transformation of media consumption, ongoing digitalization, and evolving information trends, we firmly believe that collaboration in content creation, technology exchange, and cultural enrichment is more relevant than ever,» Karin said.

Forum participants discussed ongoing projects and outlined areas for future cooperation. The parties expressed their readiness to engage in joint media production, launch educational programs, and promote national media content on international platforms. A key role in this effort will be played by the launch of a new project that will be broadcast across the entire region.

«The launch of the international version of the project «Xi Jinping’s Favorite Quotes» is a vivid testament to the strengthening of friendship and the development of humanitarian cooperation between China and the Central Asian countries. I believe this project will give new impetus to our relations,» said Shen Haixiong, President of the China Media Group.

Media cooperation between Kazakhstan and China will continue with the creation of the international music project «Silk Way Star». Additionally, the Jibek Joly/Silk Way TV channel, in collaboration with China’s CGTN, produced a special project titled «The Great Journey Through Central Asia» that showcases our culture.
