Works of the great
Abai Kunanbaiuly in Arabic were awarded a special prize «For contribution to
the development of human civilization» as part of the 11th International
Festival for Drums and Traditional Arts held in Egypt. It featured
representatives from Japan, Colombia, China, India, Palestine, Mauritania, and,
of course, Egypt. The commission established under the Egyptian Ministry of
Culture recognized Abai’s legacy with high acclaim presenting a certificate to
the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Cairo. Notably, Abai’s works were translated into
Arabic by Kazakh scholars. Afterwards, the books of the great Kazakh poet in
Arabic were sent back to the homeland.
«The festival organisers presented the award and
books by the great poet to the representatives of our country's Embassy in
Egypt. They were handed over to the representatives of the Spiritual
Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, who presented them to the museum. This
is very gratifying. We can say that the great Abai's rich heritage is
recognized by the global community,» said Ulan Sagadiyev, Director of
Zhidebai-Borili State Museum-Reserve of Abai.
