Almaty museums present exhibition on Kazakhstan’s nomadic culture in Hungary

Hungarians are exploring the rich history and culture of the Kazakh people through the exhibition «Nomads of Kazakhstan: Past and Present,» opened at the Museum of Arts of Karcag. The exposition presents over 200 unique exhibits from the Almaty Museum Association, including 13th-century silver coins, jewelry, carpets, and horse harnesses. The display also features Abai Kunanbaiuly’s dombyra, photos of natural landscapes, and modern views of Almaty. Organizers say the event will give an impetus to developing cultural ties between the two countries. The exhibition will last until November 20.

«We saw many exhibits that emphasize an inextricable link between our nations. I am delighted that this exhibition features our shared traditions, values, and culture. Through such events, young people learn about the close relationship between Kazakhs and Hungarians. In Karcag, we have equestrian sports clubs where we send our children to revive our traditions. Thanks to this exhibition, we can not only tell but also show the lifestyle that binds our ancestors together,» said Sandor Bene, resident of Karcag, Hungary.

«When we heard the Almaty Museum Association organized an exhibition, we came from Budapest to Karcag, almost out of nostalgia for the motherland. We saw many exhibits telling about the history of the Kazakh people. We learnt a lot of new things and got unbelievable emotions upon seeing the dombyra of our great poet Abai. If more such exhibitions were held, it would positively impact both Hungary and Kazakhstan. The interest shown at such exhibitions will boost tourism, encouraging more travelers to visit Kazakhstan,» shared Askar Bekov, resident of Budapest, Hungary.
