A Kazakh schoolboy, Gerald Vaax, has gained remarkable popularity on social media for his unique plasticine sculptures. His Instagram page now has over 50,000 followers. His mother, Yelizaveta, who actively promotes his work, shares that Gerald’s masterpieces have been purchased by residents of Kazakhstan as well as neighboring countries.

«Just over six months ago, we decided to regularly showcase my son’s works. Since then, we’ve steadily gained followers. Our reels have been attracting more views, and our follower count continues to rise. An increasing number of followers are from Russia and Kazakhstan, along with some from other countries, leaving comments in various languages,» Yelizaveta Vaax said.

Gerald has been sculpting for 10 years, starting at the age of three. In the hands of this talented artist, beloved characters from books, action films, and animated movies come to life. Each figure he creates has a unique backstory and incorporates elements drawn from the artist’s imagination. Looking ahead, Gerald plans to create a series of sculptures inspired by Kazakh mythology, with a particular focus on national themes.

«I recently sculpted Abai in a national style, created an astronaut for Cosmonautics Day, and plan to sculpt the Baiterek Monument. My idea is to make the Baiterek resemble the current building, with an original tree growing from it, inspired by the legend, and featuring the Samruk bird to bring the entire story to life. I will need to study it in more detail to ensure an authentic representation,» Gerald explained.

He has also mastered another form of sculpting—plaster sculpting. Gerald plans to pursue this craft professionally, so he enrolled in an art school at the Kazakh National University of Arts in the capital. Additionally, he is considering organizing online courses to teach sculpting to anyone interested.
