The UNESCO Headquarters in Paris has opened an
exhibition marking the 100th anniversary of the renowned Kazakh composer and
conductor Nurgisa Tlendiyev. His centenary has been included in the list of commemorative
dates of the international organization. The exhibition features over 60 items
from the collections of the Almaty Museum Association, including rare
manuscripts, musical scores, the composer’s personal belongings, and the
legendary Dariga Dombyra, a gift from Akhmet Zhubanov. The exhibition is
divided into five sections, each highlighting different stages of Tlendiyev’s
life. One section is dedicated to musical instruments of the Kazakh and Turkic
peoples. The project aims to promote Kazakhstan’s musical heritage on the
international stage.
«The work of the outstanding composer Nurgisa
Tlendiyev has had a profound impact on both Kazakhstan’s contemporary school of
composition and its performing arts. Without him, music would have been
entirely different. His compositions and orchestral works captivate with their unique
and remarkable sound. They are, without a doubt, a source of great pride - the
pride of Kazakh musical art,» said Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the
International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
