Turkmenistan discusses development of WCO Regional Training Centers

The role of regional training centers in strengthening ties was discussed at an international seminar in the capital of Turkmenistan. Participants of the forum from Azerbaijan, Russia, Japan, Iran, and Hungary assessed the platform’s capabilities. In particular, the international status of the Regional Training Center in Ashgabat makes it possible to conduct training sessions with the participation of leading global experts. The training programs comply with international standards, helping specialists quickly apply theory in customs practice. Participants also discussed the intricacies of working with modern X-ray equipment used in inspection and screening complexes.

«The launching of the eighth regional training center in Ashghabat, in Turkmenistan is going to develop more and more capacity building initiatives in the region. Actually, we have already in mind some important tools for increasing this cooperation. One important tool will be an IT tool, which is database, which put into connection all the experiences, best practices, initiatives, proposals, or activities in the pipeline coming from the eight regional training centers,» noted Antonio Lo Parco, Director of the European Regional Office, World Customs Organization for Institutional Development.

«At the end of May, we are planning to have the heads of RTC’s meeting for the Europe region. It serves as a preparation platform for that event. So, the topics that we discuss here will be continued in that meeting as well,» said Dashgin Aliyev, Regional Development Manager for European Region at World Customs Organization.
