Kazakhstan is committed to partnership in addressing
global urban challenges, as stated by the country’s Prime
Minister Olzhas Bektenov at the thirteenth
session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku. Olzhas Bektenov, who
participated in the event on behalf of the Head of State, noted that the
sustainable development of cities today requires a comprehensive approach,
including the use of modern technologies. This issue is particularly relevant
for Kazakhstan, where over 63% of the population currently lives in urban
areas. To respond in a timely manner to needs across all regions, urban
development centers have been established nationwide. One example of a new
approach to urban development is the Alatau City project, which aims to attract international investment, introduce modern governance technologies, and implement innovative
solutions. The Prime Minister also
noted Kazakhstan’s readiness to share its experience in AI through the platform
of the UN ESCAP Asian and
Pacific Digital Solutions Centre for Sustainable Development, established in
Almaty. Notably, the forum also features the Urban Expo exhibition, where
Kazakhstan’s national pavilion is on display. The exhibition reflects the
country’s modern approach to developing sustainable, comfortable, and
environmentally friendly cities.
