Expanding opportunities for women amid the rapid
growth of the digital economy was discussed in Astana. A seminar at the Embassy of China was dedicated to the 30th anniversary
of the Beijing Declaration. The event also addressed women’s role in sustainable development, both in achieving UN goals and in strengthening bilateral relations
between the two countries. Participants noted that
Kazakhstan and China demonstrate similar trends: in recent years, both
countries have seen increased economic activity among women and their growing presence in
entrepreneurship and the technology sector. According to Chairwoman of
TechnoWomen Aziza Shuzheyeva, partnerships with Chinese tech companies and
women’s business communities have intensified significantly. Kazakh women-led
fintech and e-commerce startups are entering Chinese and international
platforms.
«This year, we submitted our startups to several
Chinese competitions under the Maker in China platform. Our
representative, Ayaulym Ayaganova, pitched her project, the Edara platform, and
received the Black Horse
nomination. We also held joint meetings with the head of Invest in Hong Kong.
During those discussions, we presented a full range of our women-led IT
startups. With the support of Invest in Hong Kong, we will gain access to
high-quality networking opportunities and will promote our startup projects on
this platform,» Shuzheyeva said.
«In 1995, Beijing
hosted the Fourth World Conference on Women, where the Beijing Declaration and Platform
for Action were adopted – documents that became a cornerstone for advancing
gender equality worldwide. A new global summit dedicated to women’s rights was held last month. Today, we
see that strengthening international cooperation is essential for implementing
the principles of the Beijing Declaration and expanding collaboration between
our countries in supporting women,» noted Chinese Ambassador to
Kazakhstan Han Chunlin.
