Kazakhstan's national team leads the medal standings on the second day of the fifth World Nomad Games held in Astana. Although the first gold medal went to Raphael Malet from France, the country still managed to pull ahead. Kazakh athletes have now earned 14 gold, three silver, and eight bronze medals, demonstrating great performances in such kinds of ethnosports as Audaryspak and Kazakh kuresi, as well as in the kokpar and kok boru competitions. Kazakhstan's national kokpar team defeated the national team of Uzbekistan with a score of 16:0. In kok boru competitions, the national team beat the U.S. team with a score of 18:0. It bears noting that the teams from Mongolia and China include many ethnic Kazakhs.
«This time, among the nine participating countries, the strongest teams come from Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic, represented by experienced riders. We see their excellent horsemanship skills as they can become a unified force with their horses moving toward victory. It’s great that the younger generation can witness this and learn the game from the best,» said the head coach of China’s national kokpar team Yeskermes Ilyasbekuly.
Following the second day of the competition, the national team of the Kyrgyz Republic is in second place in the overall medal standings. Russia and Uzbekistan hold the third and fourth positions, respectively. The French team follows, having secured one gold and one bronze medal.
