Astana hosts Asian Table Tennis Championship

The 27th Asian Table Tennis Championship has concluded in Astana. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the final matches, in which Kazakh athletes also competed. It should be noted that this was the first time the country hosted a tournament of this level, bringing together over 200 athletes from 26 countries. Competitions were held in singles, team, doubles, and mixed doubles among men and women. This weekend, the winners in several categories of the tournament were determined. Japan secured first place, winning three gold, two silver, and three bronze medals. China came in second with two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. North Korea took third place, earning one gold, one silver and one bronze medal. And Kazakh athletes took seventh team place at the continental championship.

«We tuned in very hard for this match. The opponents were tough, as they only participate in the Asian Championship, World Championship, and the Olympic Games. So, we had to develop tactics during the game,» said Alan Kurmangaliyev, a member of Kazakhstan’s national table tennis team.
