Kazakh traditional archery team gears up for fifth World Nomad Games

The national team of Kazakhstan in traditional archery is actively preparing for the upcoming fifth World Nomad Games. Athletes are honing their skills at the capital’s hippodrome, where the main competitions will take place. Notably, the venue is ready to host the large-scale event.

 

«We are examining all factors, including climate conditions, wind direction, and target visibility. Our goal is to achieve a good result in archery at the competition. We feel a deep sense of responsibility since the sports event will be held in our country,» said Bakbergen Salimov, a member of Kazakhstan’s national team in traditional archery.

 

«The fifth World Nomad Games are just around the corner, and we have intensified our preparation. I believe that on our home soil, we will showcase our top-tier skills and secure the gold for Kazakhstan. We’re giving it our all to achieve this victory,» said Azhar Rakhmetkyzy, a member of Kazakhstan’s national team in traditional archery.

 

As of today, representatives from 35 countries have expressed their interest in participating in the traditional archery competitions. They have already submitted their applications.


«The exact number of participating countries will be confirmed only after accreditation. Based on international competitions, archers from Türkiye, Malaysia, the Kyrgyz Republic, Hungary, and Russia have displayed strong preparation. I believe our athletes will demonstrate their high skill level at the upcoming event and have the potential to win gold,» said Dias Akhmetov, the head coach of Kazakhstan’s national team in traditional archery. 

 

It is worth noting that the fifth World Nomad Games will be held in Astana from September 8 to 13, featuring over 2,000 athletes from 89 countries. A total of 97 medal sets will be contested across 21 different sports.
