An article by
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was published in the American
publication The National Interest. It focuses on the country’s new
Constitution. In the article, the Head of State emphasized that the recent
constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan confirms the country’s commitment to
the course of national development. It also demonstrates the maturity of the
political system and the willingness of citizens to participate directly in
shaping the future of the state. The widespread public support for the
constitutional amendments is reflected in the numbers: 87.15% of Kazakh
citizens voted in favor. As President Tokayev highlights, the country is
entering one of the most important stages of its political transformation. He
noted that the work on the text of the Basic Law was carried out with
exceptional care and public involvement, with around 12,000 proposals
considered. The President writes that institutional reforms are aimed at
developing the state governance system and renewing personnel. He also
highlighted citizens’ rights and freedoms, as well as the expansion of their
participation in key decision-making processes. The Head of State also focused
on Kazakhstan’s investment appeal and the necessity of continuing reforms. The
article also highlights the country’s level of development: Kazakhstan is among
the world’s 50 largest economies, ranks in the top 30 in digitalization of
government services, and possesses significant reserves of oil and gas,
critical minerals, and agricultural products.
