Participants of master classes at the Astana
Opera International Opera Academy are learning vocal art secrets from the
renowned Italian baritone Federico Longhi. Under the acclaimed maestro’s
guidance, Kazakh artists are improving their skills while working on Gaetano
Donizetti’s opera-buffa «Il Campanello.» The premiere for the current group of
opera singers is scheduled for February 27-28. This one-act comic opera tells
the story of an elderly apothecary who marries a young woman. Gaetano Donizetti
wrote both music and libretto.
«Thank you for inviting me to this beautiful
theatre and beautiful Astana. For me, it’s the first time in Kazakhstan, in
Astana. It’s a pleasure for me to be here. The level of the singers is very
good and precious, the voice is very beautiful. For me, it’s an honor to give
more technique things and suggestions. I show everything, I show voice, I show
the character, I show the mise-en-scene, I give them my experience,» said vocal
coach Federico Longhi.
