Craftswomen from Aktobe created a 155-meter
patchwork quilt as a gift for the city’s anniversary. In total, they made 67
two-meter-long kurak korpes, sewn from various colorful fabric pieces. These
handicrafts, considered essential home decoration, are adorned with symbols of
spring such as tulips, along with various patterns and ornaments. They are
planned to be given to Kazakh citizens affected by the flooding.
«Our main goal is to promote the national values of the Kazakh
people. We have gathered here to talk about forgotten traditions, the history,
and the moral heroism of our ancestors, which will certainly serve as an
example for the younger generation,» local historian Raigul
Sergaliyeva said.
