The Regional Ecological Summit has started in Astana. The day before, the heads of state of Central
Asia and several other countries arrived in the Kazakh capital to take part in the international event. The
summit will last for several days. Its participants will discuss key regional
and global environmental challenges, including sustainable development, climate
change, the transition to a green economy, as well as the expansion of
cooperation. Notably, the initiative to
hold a forum of this scale was put forward by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at
the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. The summit is being organized in partnership with the Organization.
