President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the
uniqueness of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), praising its
significant potential for strengthening political, economic, and cultural
cooperation. He highlighted the organization’s focus on ensuring regional and
global security. Nurlan Yermekbayev, the new Secretary-General of the SCO, who
assumed office on January 1, briefed the President on the SCO’s current
initiatives and key areas of cooperation. Tokayev stressed the importance of
further improving the SCO’s operations, intensifying ties with international
associations, as well as fostering the organization’s initiative «On World
Unity for a Just Peace, Harmony and Development» put forward by Kazakhstan.
