Kazakh President meets with Secretary-General of Muslim Council of Elders

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Mohamed Abdelsalam. The Head of State expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the Council’s first representative office in Central Asia and voiced support for the important initiatives and projects being implemented under the auspices of this respected and influential institution recognized internationally. For his part, the Secretary-General praised Kazakhstan’s efforts toward achieving the peaceful settlement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In conclusion, Tokayev conveyed his greetings to the President of the Council, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb. Abdelsalam was awarded the Order of Dostyk, First Class, in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of interreligious dialogue and the promotion of humanitarian values.
