Manufacturing and
construction industries have become the main drivers of Kazakhstan’s economic development this year.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov who
presented a report on the socio-economic situation in the country. Significant
growth has also been seen in agriculture, Bektenov noted. To date, nearly 4.5
million hectares of major crops have been harvested, and around 6.6 million
tonnes of grain have been threshed, marking a 40 percent growth compared to
last year. Tokayev was also briefed on housing provisions for flood-affected
citizens. About 7,500 families have received new homes, and over 9,000 have
been given compensation for repairs.
