Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan to establish Supreme Interstate Council

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are set to establish the Supreme Interstate Council chaired by the heads of the two states. The Foreign Ministers Council will coordinate the work, including setting the strategic directions of cooperation between the two countries and addressing matters of mutual interest. The Kazakh Parliament has ratified the Treaty on Allied Relations with Uzbekistan. The document also envisages strengthening cooperation on the international stage and reflects pressing issues of the rational use and protection of transboundary water resources, as well as environmental and food security. In general, the agreement aims at unlocking the full potential of bilateral interaction between the two states.

“The treaty is aimed at expanding cooperation in energy, political, trade and economic, transit and transport, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of civil defense and energy. In accordance with the provisions of the treaty, the parties promote the strengthening of ties between the parliaments, political parties, and public organizations of the two states,” said Alisher Satvaldiyev, Member of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament.

CIS countries agree to jointly counter biological threats

During a plenary session, members of the Senate, an Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament, ratified an agreement on cooperation of the CIS member states in the field of public healthcare. The document aims to strengthen the legal framework for the development of a collective system to counter biological threats. The agreement provisions regulate the procedure for providing assistance to the CIS states in the elimination of emergency situations. Besides, it stipulates the creation of specialized anti-epidemic brigades, which will provide consultative, methodological, and practical assistance to medical organizations of the requesting state.
