President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed
KazMunayGas (KMG) Chairman Askhat Khassenov to continue systematic efforts in
geological exploration, the execution of large investment projects, and the
advancement of the petrochemical sector. During a meeting at the Akorda
Presidential Palace, Khassenov reported on the company’s achievements in the
past year and discussed upcoming plans. He noted that KMG’s oil and condensate
production reached approximately 24 million tonnes, a 1.3% increase from 2023. The
Technological Challenges Program, which uses innovative methods to enhance oil
recovery, is expected to maintain production levels. Moreover, new plants are
currently under construction, alongside the launch of production facilities. An
ongoing project aims to increase bitumen production, another began building a
new polyethylene production plant. Additionally, a 247-megawatt hybrid power
plant is being constructed in the Mangystau region.
«I also briefed the President on key projects
in geological exploration. KMG has started practical implementation and begun
drilling operations in the Mangystau, Atyrau, and Aktobe regions. Additionally,
we have undertaken the necessary work on gas chemical projects,» Khassenov
said.
