Kazakhstan’s hotels accommodate tourists, generating 98.7 billion tenge

Kazakhstan’s tourism sector is on the rise. During the first half of 2023 alone, the country’s hotels generated approximately 99 billion tenge in revenue, marking a 45 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022. Last year, the country’s accommodation establishments hosted tourists, totaling about 68 billion tenge in revenue. This represents a nearly twofold growth compared to the pre-pandemic level.

“In the first six months of this year, the number of domestic tourists who used accommodation services reached 3.1 million people. This is 400,000 more people than in the same period in 2022, and one million more people than the pre-pandemic level,” said Akmaral Menlibek, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

Regarding foreign tourists, during the first half of the year, over half a million international travelers stayed in the hotels and recreation areas of the country. This is nearly twice the figure from last year.
