President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Yasutoshi Nishimura, Chairman of
the Japan-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship League, and congratulated him on
his appointment. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state
and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as the strengthening of
interparliamentary and cultural and humanitarian ties. The President noted that
Japan is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in Asia and paid particular attention
to the implementation of agreements reached during his visit to Tokyo last
year. He also emphasized that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to deepening
the enhanced strategic partnership. Tokayev recalled that the next Central
Asia-Japan Leaders’ Summit will be held in Astana next year, with preparations
already underway. At the conclusion of the meeting, the President awarded
Yasutoshi Nishimura the Order of Dostyk, First Class.
