Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov who arrived in Kazakhstan to
participate in the sixth consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central
Asia. The leaders discussed the prospects for cooperation in energy, trade and
economic, oil and gas, and transport and logistics sectors, as well as the
expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties. The Head of State emphasized the
importance of the visit for further advancing the multifaceted partnership
between the two countries.
«Kazakh-Turkmen relations are developing successfully and
fully correspond to the level of strategic partnership. I would like to express
my gratitude for your support and unwavering commitment to strengthening our
multifaceted interstate ties. As I mentioned, economic cooperation is
developing in an upward direction. The governments are working to increase the
volume of mutual trade to $1 billion. I believe there are all opportunities to
achieve this,» said President Tokayev.
In turn, the Turkmen leader emphasized the dynamic
development of bilateral interaction.
«Turkmenistan places great emphasis on cooperation with
Kazakhstan. Our countries have established an active political dialogue and are
developing ties in trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian
spheres. We are looking forward to your official visit to Turkmenistan and participation
in the international forum,» said the Turkmen President.
