President Tokayev briefed on Financial Monitoring Agency’s performance

Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Agency Zhanat Elimanov reported to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the main results of its activities last year. In 2025, unjustified budget expenditures totaling 264 billion tenge were prevented across 53 infrastructure projects in the financial sector. The Agency also disrupted the activities of 22 shadow crypto exchanges and terminated relations with 2,000 companies suspected of involvement in money laundering schemes. In addition, violations were identified involving the allocation of land plots to subsoil users not engaged in natural resource exploration, as well as the export of approximately 400,000 tons of illegally extracted minerals. Following the meeting, the Head of State issued a number of instructions on the Agency’s key areas of work.
