President Tokayev participates in state awards ceremony

Today, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, took part in a ceremony of awarding state awards, highest military and special ranks, noting that Defender of the Fatherland Day and Victory Day embody the continuity of military traditions and demonstrate loyalty to the heroic path of ancestors. The Head of State extended his congratulations to the ceremony participants and emphasized that the Kazakh army has become a reliable shield of territorial integrity and stability in the country. Defenders demonstrate heroism even in peacetime, as evidenced this year in their efforts in combating massive floods.

“During this challenging period, personnel from the National Guard, Interior Ministry, National Security Committee, Emergency Ministry, and the State Security Service stood at the forefront, demonstrating a vivid example of loyalty to their oath. Over 9,000 soldiers participated in combating massive floods. I want to commend the merits of 300 military personnel who battled the elements in the North Kazakhstan region. They constructed dams and participated in rescuing settlements from flooding,” Tokayev said.

Amidst the growing geopolitical turbulence, the importance of a robust, combat-ready army is significantly increasing, the Head of State noted. Kazakh servicemen demonstrate their professionalism by participating in UN peacekeeping operations. The state provides comprehensive support and stimulates young soldiers. President Tokayev underscored that work will continue to enhance professional training and modernize the Armed Forces.

“Kazakhstan has established itself as a peaceful state and fostered friendly relations with all countries. We believe that any conflict should be resolved through constructive dialogue. However, it is important to avoid being careless and inactive. Our military must be ready to counter various threats. A strong army is the backbone of the country,” Tokayev added.

Frontline soldiers and their heroic deeds are honored in Kazakhstan. The Head of State also highlighted that veterans receive additional payments annually for Victory Day. This year, the amount is up to three million tenge. President Tokayev added that starting this year, three degrees of the Aibyn Order have been named after legendary compatriots, namely Sagadat Nurmagambetov, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, and Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev.
