Kazakh President instructs to tighten industrial safety control

An inspection of hazardous industrial facilities is set to be conducted in Kazakhstan following a tragic incident at a Kazakhmys Corporation mine in the Ulytau region. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev issued this directive, highlighting the unacceptable state of labor safety. Companies have not invested enough in such projects, leading to industrial accidents, injuries, and fatalities among workers. The Head of State has instructed the government to take a series of measures, including the digitalization of facilities, the introduction of automated forecasting and alert systems, as well as modern labour safety systems, such as seismic sensors, positioning systems, and others. Additionally, President Tokayev emphasized the need to tighten oversight and control mechanisms in the field of industrial safety.
