To date, more than 30,500
families affected by the floods in Kazakhstan have received a one-time payment
of 100 monthly calculation indices (MCI). In total, over 12,000 residential buildings
and more than 18,000 summer cottages were damaged by the disaster. Special
commissions have inspected 84 percent of the affected properties, indicating
that over 9,000 houses can be repaired, while about 4,500 have been deemed
uninhabitable. The construction of new homes in the regions where the water has
receded is in full swing. Nearly 2,000 new houses are now being built, and
around 3,500 apartments are set to be purchased on the secondary market. There
are plans to provide housing for the affected Kazakh citizens by the start of
the new school year.
