Kazakhstan provided humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. This is not the first time Kazakhstan supports the Afghan people within the UN World Food Program. However, this consignment is one of the largest. Dozens of wagons of food, medicines and clothing have been sent there. It bears noting that the work to eliminate the consequences of earthquakes and floods is still underway in Afghanistan. About 2,000 people became victims of the natural disasters. Hundreds of residents were left homeless. Many Afghans need medical care.
“At present, nearly 20 million people in Afghanistan are suffering from malnutrition. Actually, over six million residents are in dire need of food. The country is experiencing such catastrophic events as the recent earthquake and floods. And, of course, receiving such assistance and solidarity from the Kazakh people in such a difficult period means a lot. It is a great support to those who now need help the most,” noted Ramiz Alakbarov, Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan with UNAMA.
