During a working visit to Washington, D.C., President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with representatives of the U.S. business community. At a meeting with Ben Black, CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, Tokayev discussed prospects for joint projects in the mining industry, as well as in transport and transit infrastructure.
The Head of State also met with the leadership of the Boeing multinational corporation, noting that Kazakhstan’s air carriers are interested in further promoting joint projects. Additionally, Tokayev and Jeff Shockey discussed the training of domestic aviation specialists and prospects for developing the country’s cargo aircraft fleet.
During a meeting with Mark
Coombs, CEO of Ashmore Group, the Head of State was briefed on
plans to build an international clinic in Kazakhstan. Tokayev emphasized that the Kazakh government is ready
to provide comprehensive support for this important project.
The President also received
Poul Weihrauch, CEO of Mars Inc., and welcomed the signing
of a $180 million investment agreement between the Kazakh Ministry of
Agriculture and the company for the
construction of a pet food production plant in the city of Alatau.
