Alim Beisembayev from Kazakhstan won the 20th Leeds International Piano Competition. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Culture, the musician was presented with the Dame Fanny Waterman Gold Medal and a cash prize. Also, the laureate won the Audience Prize and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society Award. Moreover, he received an opportunity to release new recordings with Warner Classics and was awarded a European tour. The 23-year-old Alim Beisembayev is the first laureate from Kazakhstan in the history of the Leeds International Piano Competition. He is now completing a master’s degree at the Royal College of Music in London.
