New water management facilities commissioned in Turkmenistan

A new strategic hydraulic structure has been commissioned on the Karakum River, which plays a key role in supplying water to Turkmenistan’s capital. The facility will ensure a stable and uninterrupted water supply to Ashgabat. It has a throughput capacity of 181 cubic meters per second. The hydraulic structure incorporates modern technological solutions, including high-capacity gates, while all mechanisms are protected against moisture and corrosion. Special attention has also been given to ensuring the safety of the operating personnel.

Two new modern pumping stations have also been commissioned in Turkmenistan’s Ahal velayat. The stations feature full automation of technological processes, with water supply management and monitoring carried out through computerized control systems. This ensures the stable and efficient operation of the equipment. The implementation of these projects is part of the government’s strategy to develop water infrastructure and provide the population with reliable access to water resources.

«The management of the hydrotechnical complex is fully digitalized. The system can operate in three modes: mechanical, automatic, and digital. In the latter two modes, all processes are monitored and the gates are controlled remotely from a central control room. A manual mode is also available when necessary, allowing specialists to operate the gates on site using special handwheels,» noted Annaguly Annaev, specialist at the association of the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan.
