Kazakhstan, IsDB launch new infrastructure projects

A large-scale water reform is underway in Kazakhstan. The country plans to build new reservoirs and modernize existing ones, with work set to cover 11 facilities. Reconstruction and major repairs will also be carried out on 151 irrigation canals. The projects will receive support from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). Kazakh Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, held talks with IsDB President Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser on cooperation in implementing the projects. Al Jasser expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the initiatives, emphasizing that Kazakhstan's projects to modernize its water management infrastructure could serve as a model for other IsDB partner countries.

«Today, thanks to the mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan, our Ministry, and the Islamic Development Bank, we are seeing a tremendous amount of work being carried out. We are confident that the objectives set by the Head of State and the Government will be achieved,» Nurzhigitov said.
