National Bank of Kazakhstan issues commemorative coins to mark 100th anniversary of renowned figures

New commemorative coins from the «Outstanding events and people» series have been issued in Kazakhstan celebrating the 100th birth anniversaries of Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev, a People’s Hero of Kazakhstan and World War II veteran, as well as Kemal Akishev, a renowned domestic archaeologist and scholar.

«The coins are produced by the Kazakhstan Mint from a nickel-silver alloy. They weigh 15 grams, have a diameter of 33 mm, and are minted in Brilliant Uncirculated quality. They have a face value of 200 tenge and a mintage of 5,000 pieces each. The coins will be sold through the National Bank's online store,» said Almat Bassenov, Chief Designer of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
