The largest container hub in the Caspian Sea has begun
operating in Aktau. It was built upon instructions from President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev. The project was implemented by the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy national
company in cooperation with China’s Lianyungang Port and the Aktau
International Commercial Seaport. The new hub will expand transit capacity and
strengthen Kazakhstan’s position along the international East–West and
North–South routes. Its modern logistics infrastructure features advanced
technologies not previously used in the country, significantly accelerating
cargo handling. The hub’s throughput capacity is expected to reach 66,000
containers per year. The launch of operations was marked by the arrival of the
100,000th container from China via the Trans-Caspian International Transport
Route. This corridor connects China and European countries through Kazakhstan,
the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
«This is not just an infrastructure project, but an
investment in the future of the entire route that connects continents and
countries, and stands as a symbol of the fulfillment of high-level agreements,»
noted Dauren Kutpanbayev, Acting Chairman of the Management Board of the Aktau
International Commercial Seaport.
