Kazakhstan’s government allocated
nearly five billion tenge to repair the Mangystau Atomic Energy Complex to ensure
its reliable and trouble-free running. Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov signed the
corresponding decree. According to his press service, the funds will be
directed to procure the necessary auxiliary equipment and components, whose
replacement will allow maintaining the performance of the atomic energy complex
and monitoring the safety during operation. In addition to modernizing and
reconstructing the plant, it is planned to enhance the western energy zone,
ensure the stable external power supply of the Atyrau oil refinery, and build
its own energy source there. Apart from that, the western zone is expected to be
connected with the Kazakhstan’s unified electric power system.
