Kazakhstan will provide tax
deductions of up to 150 percent of the funds spent on scientific expenditures
to investors, according to the country’s Ministry of Science and Higher
Education. A corresponding mechanism will be envisaged in the law on science and
technology policy in September-October. The document would be adopted in the
first half of 2024 after the consideration in the Parliament. It bears noting
that in the next three years, the state will allocate 650 billion tenge for
science in Kazakhstan, wherein about nine billion tenge will be directed to
finance fundamental research, namely to eleven research institutes. Kazakhstan is
set to increase science funding up to one percent of gross domestic product
(GDP) by 2027-2028. This year, it stood at 0.25 percent.
