Kazakhstan, UAE implement joint projects worth $6.5 billion

The United Arab Emirates is one of Kazakhstan’s key trade and economic partners. Last year, the two countries traded goods worth nearly $257.5 million. From 2005 to 2023, the UAE invested $4.1 billion in direct foreign investment in the country’s economy. There are currently 442 joint ventures successfully operating in Kazakhstan. The parties are jointly implementing projects worth $6.5 billion. One of the significant projects is the creation of a wind farm with a capacity of one gigawatt. The station, located in the Zhambyl region, includes a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 600 megawatt-hours. According to the approved roadmap, the facility is expected to be commissioned in 2029.

«Considering the favorable investment climate in our country, a decision was made during the COP29 climate conference in Baku last November to implement this important strategic project for our republic. An investment agreement was signed between the Kazakh Energy Ministry and MASDAR. The project comes with specific requirements: initially, investors must carefully study the wind speed and direction in the area before proceeding with the construction of the station,» noted Rustem Kydyrbekov, Deputy Director of the Renewable Energy Department of the Kazakh Energy Ministry.
