Kazakhstan to strengthen oversight of airport and aircraft technical conditions

Kazakhstan will conduct an unscheduled inspection of the technical condition of airports and aircraft, placing them under special control. Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov issued several directives to strengthen aviation security during a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Prevention of Offenses today. This initiative will include checks on domestic airline flight crews’ qualifications, permits, and competence. To promptly respond to air accidents, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to enhance the mechanism for emergency rescue operations and ensure the coordinated work of interested government agencies. He also stressed the importance of developing recommendations to prevent such disasters. During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev reported on the Government Commission’s work at the plane crash site near Aktau off the agenda. It was revealed that the Ministry of Transport is actively collaborating with the Government of Azerbaijan. Aviation authorities from Brazil and representatives from Embraer are expected to arrive tomorrow. A local state of emergency is currently in effect in the Tupkaragan district. Following President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s instructions, complete medical care is being provided to the victims of the plane crash, and support is being offered to their relatives and friends.
