Archaeologists find exact location of petroglyphs on Arkharly pass

Archaeologists found the exact location of the petroglyphs on the Arkharly pass in Almaty region. They have already installed marble boards with information at this place. The certification of the petroglyphs is underway. They plan to complete all work by October, and after these sites will be included in the regional general land base.

“We will make drawings of the sites using GPS after the certification of all petroglyphs is ready. All data will be included into the database of the Kerbulak district department of land relations. Upon completion, we plan to hold a republican conference in Taldykorgan, where we will invite famous archaeologists, volunteers and all those who were involved in exploration. Researchers will tell about findings in their reports,” said Marlen Kolbayev, Head of Department for Culture, Archives and Documentation, Almaty region.

Almaty region has two more unexplored sites with ancient drawings – near Taldykorgan city and along the Koksu River.
