Kazakhstan will open its first Institute of Transport Science and Technology in Almaty. The institute will focus on developing more durable road materials, implementing climate-adapted technologies, and advancing digital transport management systems. Its establishment is among the key priorities outlined by the President in his state-of-the-nation address to enhance the country’s transit potential. Currently, 11 international transport corridors pass through Kazakhstan, including six road and five railway routes. The total length of the road network is 157,000 kilometers, while railway lines extend for 15,000 kilometers. The institute is expected to provide a solid scientific foundation to support Kazakhstan’s development as a major transport hub in Eurasia.
«The institute’s main goal is to develop road construction technologies tailored to each of Kazakhstan’s natural and climatic zones. It will also focus on creating new materials and structures, enabling the effective implementation of the Head of State’s strategic directives,» said Akhylbek Kurishbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of Kazakhstan.
