Kazakhstan has officially received permission to export
honey to the European Union (EU). The Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture has made
significant progress in this area. First, they developed and implemented a national
honey residue monitoring plan, which complies with EU requirements.
Additionally, local manufacturers were consulted and inspected to ensure they
meet European standards.
«According to Article 2 of the European Commission
regulation, the decision will take effect 20 days after publication in the EU’s
Official Journal. A list of interested entrepreneurs will be compiled for
inclusion in the EU-approved register of enterprises, which are authorized to
export products to European countries. To meet export requirements, businesses
must submit a comprehensive list of documents to Kazakhstan’s Veterinary
Control and Supervision Committee, which will then forward it to the European
Commission via the TRACES NT system,» said Kyzgaldak Zhubatkanova, Head of the Department
at the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee.
«The EU is the world’s second-largest honey producer after
China, with an average production of approximately 280,000 tonnes annually.
This accounts for about 14% of the global honey market. However, despite this
significant production volume, the EU can only meet 63% of its honey needs.
This situation creates a substantial opportunity for Kazakh honey products, and
I believe our honey has the potential to carve out a place in this market,» said
Kazakh Ambassador to Belgium Margulan Baimukhan.
Kazakhstan exports honey to Saudi Arabia, Canada, Germany,
the U.S., China, Uzbekistan, and Russia. At the same time, almost half of the
country's honey production comes from the East Kazakhstan region.
