Kazakhstan is developing a network of efficient
transcontinental transit routes. 13 international transport corridors pass
through the country. To unlock the potential of the North-South route,
Kazakhstan has signed a roadmap with Iran, Turkmenistan, and Russia. The
document aims to increase the corridor's capacity up to 20 million tonnes by
2030. Additionally, 1,300 kilometers of new railways will be constructed in the
country by 2027 to enhance transport and logistics infrastructure. At the same
time, 12,000 kilometers of roads are being built and reconstructed to develop
road transportation. By 2029, the phased modernization of 36 border crossing
points on the internal border of the EAEU is planned. Furthermore, Kazakhstan
intends to increase the capacity of its seaports to 30 million tonnes per year.
«As a result of the measures taken, exports
by rail will reach 130 million tonnes, while import and transit volumes are
expected to increase by 60 and 65 percent, respectively. In road
transportation, exports and imports are projected to double, while transit
volumes are expected to grow sixfold,» noted Kazakh Vice Minister of Transport
Maksat Kaliakparov.
