Kazakhstan will soon be home to the country’s first science
city. Technoqala will be a city with special status, designed to bring together
cutting-edge technology, science, universities, and businesses. It is planned
to be located on a 500-hectare site near Almaty. One-third of the area will be
allocated for universities, research institutes, and a technopark, which will form
the foundation for training specialists and developing new innovations.
Priority fields include robotics, electronics, biotechnology, medical
equipment, agriculture, food industry, nuclear energy, and chemistry. Special
attention will be given to the development of new energy sources, food
security, advanced information technologies, and AI. The science city will feature
industry-specific clusters with a full cycle, from research to industrial
production. The concept was developed based on leading international practices.
The project is being implemented under the instruction of President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, announced at the meeting of the National Kurultai.
