Kazakhstan’s population hit 20-million mark

On his X social media account, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that the number of the country’s citizens has reached 20 million people. The Head of State congratulated Kazakh residents on that milestone event, emphasizing that a happy family is the foundation of the nation’s well-being and the country’s sustainable progress. Besides, President Tokayev noted that the government will continue to work on strengthening family values as well as protecting motherhood and childhood. It is noteworthy that according to the Bureau of National Statistics, five babies, including three boys and two girls, were welcomed as the 20 millionth citizens of Kazakhstan. They were born in the Ulytau, Zhetisu, Atyrau, Akmola, and Turkistan regions on November 14. It should be reminded that in 1991, the number of Kazakh citizens amounted to over 16 million people. The figure has grown by more than 22 percent in the years of independence.
