The
Central Election Commission (CEC) continues to register observers from
international organizations for the upcoming nationwide referendum on the
construction of a nuclear power plant, scheduled for October 6 in Kazakhstan. 76
observers have received accreditation, representing CIS member states, the
Organization of Turkic States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the
Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia. Their role
is to ensure maximum transparency in the voting process and to monitor
everything happening at the polling stations. The CEC noted that the list of
observers will be supplemented as proposals are received.
