Kazakhstan’s national team has departed for the ninth Asian
Winter Games (AWG), set to take place from February 7 to 14 in China. A
ceremonial send-off was held at the Qazaqstan athletics sports complex in
Astana. During the ceremony, the athletes were presented with the national
flag, which will be carried at the opening ceremony by Adil Beketayev, Master
of Sport in ice hockey, and Olga Tikhonova, Master of Sport International Class
in short track speed skating.
Notably, Kazakhstan’s national team will participate in
speed skating, skiing, figure skating, biathlon, curling, and ice hockey, aiming
to compete for 51 sets of medals.
