Kazakhstan’s passenger rail fleet has been expanded with next-generation carriages. Innovative Series 45 models have been introduced on an international route. They were manufactured at a domestic plant in Petropavl. The train consists of eight carriages equipped with air suspension for smoother travel, as well as corrosion-resistant bodies. The compartments and open-plan carriages can accommodate more than 300 passengers. Special spaces are provided for passengers with disabilities. The carriages meet safety and comfort standards. They feature climate control, air purification systems, improved sound insulation, and individual temperature control. Kazakhstan is currently undergoing a large-scale modernization of its passenger rolling stock. Around 200 new carriages are planned for purchase this year, and by 2030, approximately 800 more will be upgraded. This will allow up to 90% of the total fleet to be replaced.
«At the instruction of the Head of State, large-scale reconstruction and modernization of railway infrastructure is underway, including tracks, stations, and rolling stock, carried out by the national carrier. Over the past four years, it has purchased 436 carriages from a domestic manufacturer, which are currently operating successfully on domestic routes such as Pavlodar – Turkistan, Pavlodar – Almaty, Kyzylorda – Semei, and Mangystau – Atyrau, as well as on international routes, including Almaty – Saratov and Almaty – Novosibirsk,» said Diyar Nussipkozhanov, Chairman of Passenger Transportation JSC.
«The main demand is in Kazakhstan. We are currently
developing a modernized wagon with an inter-repair mileage of 350,000 km. This
is twice as high as that of a standard gondola car. We are also working on an
innovative gondola car that will not only match but exceed the performance of
similar models in all neighboring countries,» said Artyom Pavlinger, Commercial Director of Railways
Systems KZ LLP.
