Kazakhstan outlines position on global challenges at Speakers of Parliament Conference

The Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament was held in Geneva. The Kazakh delegation was led by Yerlan Koshanov, the chairman of the Mazhilis, a lower house of the Parliament. During the general debate, he emphasized the growing importance of strengthening the global disarmament regime and preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Koshanov also highlighted the need to accelerate joint efforts in combating climate change and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He underscored the special responsibility of parliamentarians in promoting the principles of justice, equality, and inclusivity.

A series of laws reflecting the principles of social justice have been adopted. The country is undergoing large-scale political modernization and carrying out economic reforms. This goes beyond political discourse - it reflects a commitment to ensuring political and economic rights and to establishing lasting conditions for the respect of human dignity,» Koshanov said.
