The Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament was
held in Geneva. The Kazakh delegation was led by Yerlan Koshanov, the chairman
of the Mazhilis, a lower house of the Parliament. During the general debate, he
emphasized the growing importance of strengthening the global disarmament
regime and preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Koshanov also highlighted the need to accelerate joint efforts in combating climate
change and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He underscored the
special responsibility of parliamentarians in promoting the principles of
justice, equality, and inclusivity.
«The Kazakh Parliament is actively engaged in implementing
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiative to build a Just Kazakhstan - a
state of equal opportunities for all, founded on the rule of law. A series of
laws reflecting the principles of social justice have been adopted. The country
is undergoing large-scale political modernization and carrying out economic
reforms. This goes beyond political discourse - it reflects a commitment to
ensuring political and economic rights and to establishing lasting conditions
for the respect of human dignity,» Koshanov said.
